EIFA Condemns Iraq's Membership of the UN Human Rights Council

EIFA Condemns Iraq's Membership of the UN Human Rights Council
The European Iraqi Freedom Association (EIFA) strongly condemns Iraq's membership of the UN Human Rights Council. This will seriously harm the cause of human rights in the world today as Iraq is practically under the control of the theocratic dictatorship ruling Iran and according to the reports of the United Nations and international human rights organizations, its judiciary is influenced by political factions and collective and arbitrary executions are carried out on a daily basis. On the international stage, Iraq continually supports the crimes of the Iranian regime.
According to the IRNA state-run news agency, Abbas Araghchi, the Iranian regime’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, in a meeting with Iraq’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Ibrahim Jafari, on the sidelines of the Human Rights Council, “praised Iraq’s positions in opposing anti-Iranian resolutions in the General Assembly and the Council." In return, Ibrahim Jafari said: "The government and people of Iran are victims of terrorism, including the Mojahedin (PMOI/MEK). .... Iraq continues to oppose political moves against Iran in the field of human rights. " (IRNA, March 1, 2017).
The US and UN, who were responsible for the safety and security of Ashraf and Liberty residents, must convince Iraq to return the property of the residents or its equivalent value to them so that they can cover their heavy and crippling living costs in Albania.
War and insecurity in the region began with the opening of Iraq’s doors to the mullahs after the US invasion of Iraq, and culminated with offering Iraq to Iran's rulers on a silver platter. Today the United States can restore peace and tranquillity to the region only by taking Iraq back from the clutches of the Iranian tyrants and returning it to the people of Iraq.

Iran - Exporting terrorists to Iraq

appointment of Brigadier Iraj Masjadi as Iran’s ambassador to Iraq

The recent appointment of Brigadier Iraj Masjadi as Iran’s ambassador to Iraq has provided the clearest evidence yet of the theocratic regime’s aggressive dominance over its closest neighbour. The appointment has been roundly condemned by the European Iraqi Freedom Association (EIFA), whose President – Struan Stevenson – says that Masjadi’s appointment clearly demonstrates how Iran exults in its role as the world’s leading exporter of terror.

Struan Stevenson

Speaking in Scotland, Stevenson said:

“The Iranian mullahs finance and supply men and material to the brutal Shi’ia militias in Iraq, Bashar al-Assad in Syria, the Houthi rebels in Yemen and Hezbollah in Lebanon. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) and Qods Force are involved in every Middle East conflict. Masjadi was the senior deputy of General Qasem Soleimani, commander of the Quds Force of the IRGC. Both organisations are on international terrorist lists. Iranian media outlets have confirmed that Masjadi’s appointment was based on a proposal by General Qasem Soleimani, with the approval of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran. This is an outrage against the norms of international diplomacy.”

What is the biggest mistake about Iran?

Mr. Struan Stevenson: What is the biggest mistake about Iran?

NCRI- Below is the text of speech by Mr. Struan Stevenson, President of the European Iraqi Freedom Association (EIFA) at University of California- Berkeley on October 15, 2016. Mr. Stevenson was a Member of the European Parliament representing Scotland (1999-2014). He was President of the Parliament’s Delegation for Relations with Iraq (2009- 2014) and Chair of Friends of a Free Iran Intergroup (Caucus) from 2004-2014.

Speech by Struan Stevenson,President of the EIFA at University of California- Berkeley
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Dear sisters and brothers,
Thank you so much for coming to this event today. It is great to be back in the States. I would like to thank the American-Iranian communities for inviting me to USA.
I should tell you that I come from Scotland. I live on the coast in South West Scotland. I can see Ireland from my window. Belfast is only 18 miles across the sea from my front door. In fact, the rugged Scottish coastline where I live is a magnet for geologists. They come from around the world and can be seen chipping away at the local rocks, searching for special fossils, which are found in only two places in the world - South West Scotland and the Appalachian Mountains that run down America’s Eastern seaboard. Apparently some 480 million years ago, when the earth’s crust was forming, a chain of volcanoes erupted tearing Scotland off the American continent and ramming us up next to England, where we have remained rather uneasily ever since. So technically, or at least geologically, Scotland could have been the 51st US State!

A big victory for the Iranian opposition PMOI

Struan Stevenson former member of the European Parliament and President of the European Iraqi Freedom Association
NCRI - Today 9 September 2016 Struan Stevenson former member of the European Parliament and President of the European Iraqi Freedom Association (EIFA) issued a statement on successful completion of the resettlement of Camp Liberty residents from Iraq to Europe and failure of the plan to arrest PMOI officials and to launch missile attacks against Camp Liberty following is the full text:
This afternoon the main Iranian opposition PMOI, moved their remaining members who were previously trapped in Camp Liberty near Baghdad airport. This successful huge transfer took place while the Iranian regime planned to either eliminate or rip apart its main enemy while they were still in Iraq.
This final round of departures marks the successful conclusion of the process of relocating members of the PMOI to countries of safety outside Iraq despite the Iranian regime’s conspiracies, obstruction and threats, which continued until the very last day.
I was a member of the European Parliament from 1999 to 2014 and President of the Delegation for Relations with Iraq during my final 5-year mandate. I was able to learn at first hand about the Iraqi government’s repeated attempts to annihilate the defenceless PMOI refugees in Camp Ashraf and Camp Liberty, under the guidance of the Iranian regime.
