Increasing arrests and executions up in Iran

Majid Assadi
In the past months have seen a spike in arrests and executions. In fear of mass anti-state protests similar to those that took place in 2009, the regime has resorted to raid the homes of political and human rights activists in Iran, especially the supporters of the main resistance group  PMOI /MEK.
One of the more recent cases is that of Majid Assadi, 34, who lives in Karaj, 40 km west of Tehran. Holding a degree in economics from the Alameh Tabatabai University, Assadi is a student activist, former political prisoner, and a supporter of the MEK.

Lina a-Shami a female architect from Syria on Monday has done an interview with The Satellite channel of the  (NCRI) The following is the part of the interview:
Ms. Lina al-Shami: the situation is catastrophic in Aleppo. The city is under siege for more than hundred days and it is targeted with a variety of weapons and missiles, ballistic missiles, cluster bombs and explosive barrels. In addition to the firings, the neighborhoods are besieged by the artilleries. The Assad regime and his backup militants are trying to advance into the besieged neighborhoods. The Iranian regime also helps and supports the Assad regime in killing people and ruining the country.
The history will never forget those who stand by the Syrian people and those who support the oppressors; slaughter the innocent people and violate their rights.
We never forget the Iranians who stood by the resistance of the Syrian people and supported the Syrian revolution.
We appreciate you and the Iranian opposition that organizes your continuous protests and your sense of solidarity with Aleppo and Syria. Our path and revolution are one.

Also in another ceremony held on the same day at the University of Khajeh Nasir to commemorate the ‘Student Day’, the students had installed large banners on the walls of the university’s amphitheatre which read: “political prisoner must be released”, “University is not a garrison” and “Our University is alive.” The ceremony began with one of the students making a speech, in which he made mention of the political prisoner Narges Mohammadi which was immediately followed by other students chanting “political prisoner must be released.

Regime’s handpicked agents, participating in the ceremony as guests, were so surprised by the students’ slogans that they attempted to silence the students by raising issues like “as long as there’s room for civic activities, there’s no need to shout slogans.” The ceremony was then followed by the Q & A session, during which the students responded to the regime’s agents who were promoting civic activities, saying “how could you talk about civic activities in such suffocation?” or “when the source of corruption is appointed head of the judiciary, how could anyone take his complaint to the court?”

Later in their speeches, regime’s agents claimed that basically there’s no such thing as an independent student movement and that the students have only been directed by political groups and parties since the beginning of the revolution.

Iran: The Report of a University Student

The Report of a University Student
NCRI - The crises in the provision of accommodations and the lack of commitment and responsibility by the officials of the Ministry of Science and universities:
In the new academic year that has started from October, there is a serious crisis for the university students. There are no suitable dormitories for the new students and even the students of the previous years have the same problem as well. At the time of the registration, the student welfare institutions raise the issue in advance and withhold any assurance by saying that there are not enough funding and good infrastructure conditions in housing and feeding. This problem intensifies for the female students as they are more exposed to the social and cultural barriers. Regarding these issues, the universities and students have entered into correspondence with the Ministry of Science but the officials evaded the answers due to the lack of funding and inadequate explanations. Therefore the issue has remained unsettled.
