Mission of women in the Struggle Against Religious Tyranny Ruling in Iran

The Struggle Against Religious Tyranny Ruling in Iran and the Mission of All Women in This Struggle

Maryam Rajavi's
remarks at IWD roundtable discussion: Women in Leadership, the Experience of the Iranian Resistance

Dear sisters,
Distinguished friends,
The Iranian women's struggle for freedom and equality has lasted one-and-a-half centuries. Iranian and Western historians who have studied the developments of the past 150 years in Iran have clearly attested to this reality.

Over this span of time, we have seen vanguard women who rose up and proved their competence in various arenas despite the reigning culture and policies of tyranny and misogyny. This phenomenon was most significantly demonstrated in women's courageous participation in the anti-dictatorial struggles over this period.
Women's struggle is essentially the best and most comprehensive indicator of progress in a given society. How can we measure the advances of a society towards real progress and development? The answer is to the extent it endeavors to achieve freedom and equality.

Iran- UN High commissioner for human rights: “my Office has been given no access since 2013.”

Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights
NCRI - Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, in his opening statement at 33rd Session of Human Rights Council,  which was held in Geneva on 13 September 2016, by referring to Iranian regime's behavior of disregard and disrespect for international law stated:

“Regarding the Islamic Republic of Iran, my Office has been given no access since 2013 – despite several years of good technical cooperation prior to that date. Our offers to begin a technical dialogue on the death penalty have been systematically overlooked, as have all other proposals of engagement. This is particularly regrettable given the reports we continue to receive of fundamental problems with the administration of criminal justice; continued execution of large numbers of people, including juveniles; allegations of discrimination and prosecution of religious and ethnic minorities; harsh restrictions on human rights defenders, lawyers and journalists; and discrimination against women both in law and practice.

Iran -Mothers group in Iran calls for end to death penalty

Mothers group in Iran calls for end to death penalty

NCRI - The mothers of Sunni political prisoners mass executed this week in Iran have released a statement condemning the mass execution of their children at Gohardasht (Rajai-Shahr) Prison in Karaj, north-west of Tehran, earlier this week.
The statement read: “The successive executions brought death to our children without any trial, lawyer, due process or [regard] for international laws.”
They recount their collective grief for those children murdered by the Iranian regime.
They said: “In the past few decades, many women have mourned the death of their children in the darkness and solitude. They shed tears and nobody wiped them away or consoled them…We, as mothers, know that the suffering from the loss of a child is endless; no matter if they die by a rope or gunshot. The suffering never fades away and the nightmares do not leave us.”

IRAN - HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL HOLDS GENERAL DEBATE ON UNIVERSAL PERIODIC REVIEW

Discrimination against women in Iran
The Human Rights Council on Monday held a general debate on the Universal Periodic Review.
In the general debate, speakers underlined that the Universal Periodic Review should be conducted in an objective, non-biased, constructive, non-confrontational and non-politicized manner.  They all stressed that the implementation of recommendations was the key challenge of the Universal Periodic Review process, noting that some sort of monitoring for the implementation should be set up at the national level.
